Geology of the Drienčany karst

The Drienčany karst is mostly made of limestones. They are a part of the Silica nappe in which almost all known limestone types of the Slovak karst territory are represented. After the folding of the Carpathians, limestones were partially disrupted and covered by sediments from the Tertiary sea as well as products of andesitic volcanism.
